BiPAC was set up in 2017, following a series of workshops between the researchers of Milano-Bicocca University involved in the Cultural Heritage field. As reported in the Center Statute:

The aim of the Center is to promote the development and the integration of the expertise of Milano-Bicocca University in the field of study, protection, preservation and valorization of the artistic, cultural, archaeological, historical and contemporary Heritage.

The described aims are pursued through the following activities:

- promotion of the connections between Bicocca researchers and their expertise, searching for common targets;

- promotion of tematic workshops, meetings and seminars to support the exchange of experiences in different fields of study;

- creation of an annual event where every research group can describe their work in Cultural Heritage field, together with publications and initiatives, and where new collaborations can be promoted.

The mentioned activities, as well as future ones, can involve the collaboration with public and private, national and international institutions and organizations. During the last years the Centre actively worked in the light of the Statute to promote the collaboration between researchers from different fields of study. In particular, the Departments of the Centre have grown up from the initial 12 to 14 (the totality of Bicocca University Departments).

Tematic meetings have been organized every year, even during the pandemic period: in February 2020 a meeting to discuss a project for a widespread museum; in March 2021 the congress "Artificial intelligence in Art".

BiPAC promoted the participation in join projects; the main example is the Mobartech project, supported by POR-FESR (Programma Operativo Regionale, Fondo Europeo di Sviluppo Regionale), in the call “Accordi per la Ricerca, Sviluppo e Innovazione”. The project, in which Bicocca University was the main partner, involved seven partners between universities, CNR and private companies.
